The earlier you start your holiday menu planning the better! I am stocking up on my families favorites for the holidays.

What will you eat for the holidays?

Now is the time to do a big shopping trip and stock up on all the goodies your family loves to eat over the holidays.

The turkeys are on sale this week at Meijer, so I just bought 2 this morning.

I don’t cook Christmas or Thanksgiving dinner, but I will still make a big turkey dinner with all the fixings a few times this winter.

Yes, I will cook the turkey! I can make a GREAT Thanksgiving dinner. I just don’t like to cook daily.

A few other items on my family’s wish list are:

Pecan pie: This one I won’t make. Greg’s mom makes a great pecan pie.

Spice Cake: I will buy a few boxes of spice cake for Abby to make.

While I was at the store this morning, I ran across this cute quick and easy cake – that will be a fun surprise!

Sugar Cookies with Icing: I LOVE sugar cookies with icing. The kids have iced sugar cookies every year since they were 2!

Did you notice it said ICE sugar cookies? Not bake 12 dozen sugar cookies from scratch. Yeah, I always thought it said that until last year.

Last year, I bought 3 rolls of slice and bake sugar cookies. I rolled the dough out before they were cooked and cut out sugar cookies.

Then I baked about 48 cookies.

I bought 3 jars of white icing, divided the icing into 6 bowls and added food coloring.

A few shakers of sprinkles later,  we were ready to ice sugar cookies with less than 2 hours of prep time.

No worries – they were DELICIOUS!

Peppermint Ice Cream: Yep, it’s in the stores already! Bought and done!

So, once again, my family will get exactly what they want without a lot of time on my part.

I enjoy spending ONE day in the kitchen making a masterful meal. But not 5 making a pie I have no idea how to make and dozens of sugar cookies no one really needs to eat.

There are a few more appetizer type foods I want to make and the family will happily eat. But if I don’t get to it…I don’t have to worry because it is on MY list.

So what about you? Do you love to cook? What kinds of holiday treats does your family enjoy?
