2015 update. I had SOOOOO much fun planning this post and activities for my kiddos and they totally FREAKED OUT! So I didn’t get to do it. BUT I still think it is a great way for you craft/ creative moms to play during the holidays, so I am reposting it this year.

It’s time for the Elf on the shelf preparation. Here is how I am organizing my Elf on the Shelf’s escapades.
This is the week. The week where the calendar fills up, the minutes move faster, the bank account groans and your to-do list grows while you sleep. So while I know you all are not as crazy as I am, planning 26 Elf visits in the next few weeks, I DO know you are all planning what you will or won’t be doing this holiday season.
So, I am not adding a weekly organization challenge to that stress. My suggestion is to take a break – buy your favorite beverage and take 30 minutes to PLAN your holiday fun this year.
I already have pinned some fun free ideas for my Elf on the shelf, but I couldn’t resist all these fun treats I saw when I was doing my big ONE stop shop yesterday at Meijer.
Our Elf, Merry, is going to be visible each day AFTER school to allow me some extra set up time.
I have planned some fun activities for the whole family – like setting up some movie nights and a family game night.
The teacher in me has prepared a lesson plan sheet for the month.
Last month, I downloaded some cute printables from Hoosier Homemade and will be picking up my copies tomorrow. {I don’t have a color printer} OH. MY. GOODNESS is Hoosier creative!
I also bought this 12 days of Christmas for my Husband printable set, but will have to wait until next year to pull that one off! I am SO glad I can “copy” all these ideas and don’t need to come up with them myself!
A friend told me there was a blog that showed how to modify your elf with wire arms and velcro hands. I am looking for that link if anyone knows where it is. Merry may have “surgery” after this season.
With work, school and household duties the holidays can easily slip right by. I am setting aside 30 minutes every day to make sure that I am making as many memories as I am to-do lists.
The next 2 days are my BIG preparation for the coming month. Tomorrow, I am cleaning our carpets in preparation for trimming the tree this Wednesday. The kids get super squirrely this time of year, and when they are home… I literally can’t think.
Shhhhh. Merry is chilling with the retro Cokes until Friday.
How are you doing with your holiday planning? Spend a few minutes over the next 2 days organizing the memories you will create for years to come.
