Clik here to view.Join me each Saturday as I spend the next 10 weeks organizing your holiday celebrations.
I love being over 40. It was a rough 18 months to get to this place, but AHHHHHH what a breath of fresh air.
In my 20’s, I thought I KNEW everything. In my 30’s, I thought I could DO everything.
Now, in my 40’s, I know I don’t know everything and I know I can’t do everything, but I can know A LOT about what matters to our family and do anything I put my FOCUSED effort into.
I am more deeply versed on a smaller amount of topics.
All this to say… I used to get up in arms and devote a ridiculous amount of time and energy into whether you should say, “Happy Holidays” or “Merry Christmas.”
I finally decided my saying “Merry Christmas” was not going to convert anyone to a personal relationship with Jesus. My saying “Happy Holidays” was not forsaking my beliefs and missing an opportunity to spread the gospel.
I think I represent my beliefs best when I am acting out of the giftings my Creator gave me: training, teaching, analyzing and organizing.
So, whether you celebrate Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa or another winter celebration, I want to bless you with 10 weeks of Holiday Organizing posts starting today!
Yep! Christmas is a little more than 10 weeks away. And Chanukah starts even earlier at the beginning of December!
This holiday season for me is all about simplifying and strategically making memories with my tweens.
I have tried to do it all and it doesn’t work. I have given up on the idea that the whole family will decorate the house. They don’t. It’s only me, and I have lost too many decorating days to inward “poor me” thoughts.
This year, I am taking a “day off” from work, cranking the tunes and decorating by myself. If I can’t put it up in ONE day- I’m donating it.
- I want to bake cookies with the kids.
- I want to make a nice big turkey dinner once or twice.
- I want to use our good Christmas dishes.
- I AM going to send cards THIS year!!
- I want to buy meaningful gifts – if possible at a discount {I’m terrible at this!}.
- I want to plan a “take down the tree day” so that it is on my calendar and not a feeling of guilt every time I walk by it.
I want to be PRESENT for the activities I plan instead of just checking another thing off my list.
So get ready! Next Friday we will make a plan!
